The Western Nationalities Dawah Office is seeking volunteers to participate in two
new programs; the Sponsorship Program and the Mentoring Program.

SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

The sponsorship program is designed to facilitate the integration of newly arriving Muslims and their families upon arrival in the kingdom and to familiarize new arrivals with Jeddah and the Saudi culture.  The goal is to match newly arriving Muslims families with Expatriate Muslim families living in Jeddah who have similar geographical and cultural backgrounds as well as similar family structures.

Example: a Muslim family of five is scheduled to arrive from the U.K.  The family has two school age daughters under the age of 10 and one preschooler. Insha ALLAH, we will attempt to match them with a family from the UK with young daughters as near as possible to the ages of their daughters.
Example: a single, 57 year old, male Muslim from the southern part of the United States arrives in the Jeddah.

The goal will be to provide him a sponsor as near to his age and his geographical location as possible. The sponsoring family or the sponsor will make themselves reasonably available to explain the culture to the new arrival (s) and to assist the new arrivals with finding major locations in and around Jeddah.

This includes, but is not limited to the following:

Locations of Islamic Learning  Centers
Locations of English Khutbas
Assist with travel to Makkah for Umrah
Locations of schools for children
Locations of major hospitals and clinics
Locations of major shopping malls
Locations of recreational spots and children activity centers

 MENTORING PROGRAM

The mentoring program is designed to facilitate new Muslims (Muslim reverts) and/or non-Muslims who are interested in Islam with their transition into Islam by providing an Expatriate Muslim/Muslima to serve as a mentor and to answer questions in a “one-on-one” environment.  The mentor will serve in the multiple roles and capacities including, but not be limited to, acting as a counselor, tutor, teacher, guide and/or advisor.

Like the Sponsorship Program, the goal of the Mentoring Program is to match new Muslims (reverts) Westerners’ interested in Islam with Expatriate Muslims living in Jeddah who share similar geographical and cultural backgrounds.

Example: A 27 year old man from Sydney Australia embraces Islam; the goal will be to provide him a mentor as near as possible to his age and as close to his home location of Sydney Australia as possible.

Insha ALLAH, the Mentor will make reasonable arrangement with the interested party to schedule personal time to explain the basics of Islam and answer questions. The Mentor will be primarily responsible for facilitating the new Muslim/Muslima after taking Shahada.  The Mentor will facilitate the non-Muslims spiritual development before, during, and after Shahada.
This includes, but is not limited to the following:

Locations of Islamic Learning  Centers
Locations of English Khutbas
Conducting classes in Tawhid
Conducting classes in Wudu
Conducting classes in Salat
Conducting classes in Zakat
Conducting classes in Fasting
Taking the New Muslim to Makkah for Umrah
Bringing the new Muslim/Muslima to Islamic functions
